| I've been an artist all my life, and my creative pursuits have included writing,
illustration, graphic design, puppetry, music, and animation.
I currently serve as Art Director for the children's media company FableVision, a children's media company in Boston. Working at FableVision is a constant source of inspiration and learning, as I spend my time designing games, websites, software and animated films.
I am the author and illustrator of two books for children, A Froggy Fable and Sticky Burr: Adventures in Burwood Forest, both published by Candlewick Press. I am currently working on several new projects.
I
grew up in Needham, Massachusetts, as one of seven children. Our house was always
filled with art, music and creativity. I played the violin and guitar, and my brothers and sisters all had different creative interests. I
went to college at Carnegie Mellon University, where I studied art and creative
writing. I worked as a graphic designer and a puppeteer for many years, designing and building my own puppet shows. (See my puppets on the left!)
In
1995, I met artist/author/educator Peter H. Reynolds, just as he was starting a new company called FableVision. He asked me to join his team, and I've been there ever since. Peter and I have collaborated on many projects over the years, including film versions of Peter's books The Dot and Ish. as well as the animated film collection Stories That Matter, Stories That Move.
Today
I continue to work full-time at FableVision, while writing and illustrating at night, on weekends, and in my sleep. If you have any questions about me or my work, feel free to contact me.
